Absence from school

Government policy states that:

‘Head Teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.’

In conjunction with these amendments we would like to clarify the situation with regard to the Bellingham mini - partnership of schools.

From September 2013 Head Teachers will not be authorising holidays during term time.

If you do take your child for a holiday in term time we have to record this as an unauthorised absence.

There may be occasions where parents/carers feel that their circumstances are exceptional and that there is no alternative. If this is the case, it will be necessary for a meeting to be arranged with the Head Teacher or the Deputy Head Teacher to discuss the request.

There will no longer be ‘leave of absence’ forms in school.

If your child is absent for any reason whatsoever please ring school before 9am.  and on every subsequent day of absence.

We are sure you understand that any absence is detrimental to a child’s learning and thank you for your support in this.
