As you may be aware, the optional Year 2 Key Stage 1 SATs will be taking place during the month of May. These assessments are designed to give us a further understanding of how your child is progressing in relation to the National Curriculum expectations. The children will complete these assessments independently; however, they will be presented in a way that feels familiar and routine—much like any other classroom activity. There will be no added pressure and the time for completing the tasks will remain flexible to ensure a positive and supportive experience for the children. While there are no formal dates set for these assessments, Mrs Tincombe and I have identified the following days when we are likely to invite the children to complete them. We thought it might be helpful for you to be aware of these: Monday 12th May – Maths Tuesday 13th May – English (Reading) Thursday 15th May – Spelling and Grammar Monday 19th May – Maths Tuesday 20th May – English (Reading) Please note that there may be slight changes to this depending on how things go during the week, but we will ensure that all assessments are carried out in a calm and supportive environment.
