School Meals

Universal Free School Meals

As many of you would have read in the press recently, the government are offering free school meals for all Key Stage 1 children (Reception through to Year 2). This will take effect from the first day of the new school year.

Free School Meals (FSM) are also available to people who are classed as unemployed and receiving a qualifying benefit. The school receives a pupil premium £1,300 for each child, so if you think you are eligible please apply either through the school office if you require assistance.

If you do not register, you will still be entitled to the free school meal (if your child is in Key Stage 1) but the school will NOT receive the pupil premium.

Year 3, 4, and 5

School dinners can be paid for each half term or weekly (Mondays) either by cash or cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Otterburn First School and all money should be sent in to school in a labelled envelope with your child’s full name.

5 days - £12.50 4 days - £10.00 3 days - £7.50 2 days - £5.00 1 day -£2.50

Anyone wishing to apply for free school meals should telephone NCC Childrens Services.

If your child wishes to change to school dinners from packed lunch or vice versa please give two weeks’ notice.

We are a healthy school and we encourage the children to taste a selection of fruit and vegetables that they might not have been tried before. The children get a reward if they have had a clean plate all week.  The children choose the menus, but these are subject to change according to delivery of produce. Each meal is accompanied with a selection of vegetables and fresh salad.

Please see separate download for the dinner menu.
