Key Stage 1 SATs – Information for Parents
At the end of Year 2, children will take part in the Key Stage 1 national curriculum assessments, commonly known as SATs. These tests are designed to support teachers’ assessments of your child’s progress and attainment in core subjects, helping to identify strengths and any areas for further development.
Subjects Assessed:

English reading

English grammar, punctuation and spelling (optional for schools)

Mathematics (arithmetic and reasoning)
Test Period for 2025:
Schools have flexibility to administer the Key Stage 1 SATs during May 2025. Unlike Key Stage 2 tests, these are not timed and are conducted in a more informal classroom setting to help put children at ease.

A ‘plan-do-review’ approach that enables us to evaluate and adjust support strategies based on each child’s needs
